Challenges While Shooting

On the first day, we faced our initial challenge was finding the perfect pair of red heels. We scoured countless stores, both online and in person, but it felt like nothing was quite right. Some pairs were off in color, while others just didn’t fit our vision.

So, we decided to get a little crafty. We took a spare pair of heels that Lyla had and used acrylic paint to give them a makeover.
But, of course, things didn’t go as smoothly as we hoped the paint took ages to dry, and when it finally did, it started chipping almost right away. It was a bit of a blow, but we kept our cool and thought outside the box. We grabbed some red nail polish and carefully painted over the heels. It took some time to dry, but in the end, they turned out just as we had imagined

On the second day, things weren’t as chaotic, but the stress was still there. My first attempt at a Lilith costume was a total flop. I had this ski mask we ordered online, but when I put it on, it just didn’t fit right. After feeling a bit defeated, I had a lightbulb moment, I wrapped my hijab snugly around my face, and it gave us the exact vibe we were going for. It ended up being a straightforward yet brilliant fix, and the costume looked just like we envisioned.

On the third day, everything was going pretty well as we were shooting without any issues. But then, we hit a snag when We needed a black box to pair with the red heels to create that perfect horror vibe. Abeer managed to bring one along, but it had this shiny golden brand name plastered on the lid. Thankfully, Lyla had the remaining acrylic paints we used earlier stashed away, so we decided to paint it black.

As you can imagine, the paint took ages to dry, even after we tried everything, waving the box around like crazy and cranking up the fan.

it got even worse when it was time to film a dolly-in shot of the heels in the box. Suddenly, Lyla realized she might have left the heels in her car. The situation took a turn for the worse, Lyla’s mom was out with the car, and when we reached out to her, we found out she was stuck in traffic a whole hour away in Islamabad. With no chance of getting the heels back in time before the light faded, we knew we'd have to give up another day just for one shot. Still, in the end, it all turned out to be worth it.
